Verdict
KING CHRISTOPH was able to build on a pleasing first run at Listowel when breaking through at Thurles nine days ago. Providing this doesn't come too soon, he could make his nursery debut a winning one given the strength of that form beating a couple of more experienced, 80-rated opponents. City Of Gold also goes handicapping for the first time and is a big player on his Galway form, while the penny dropped for Snapequus at Dundalk and he's noted too.
CITY OF GOLD was just denied in a maiden at Galway last time, going down by a short head after being out-battled in the closing stages. Aidan O’Brien won this last year, and his well-bred colt could have more to offer now stepping up in trip for his handicap debut. Snapequus didn't show much in his first three starts, but got off the mark at the first attempt in handicaps when scoring by half a length at Dundalk last time. Despite being 5lb back on turf, he should have more to come for Joseph O’Brien, with first-time cheekpieces another potential positive. King Christoph built on his debut promise to win an auction race at Thurles by a length and a quarter last time and looks open to further improvement now handicapping.
