Verdict
AL KARRAR returned from just over three years off the track when finishing a more than respectable third in a Yarmouth handicap in September. The formerly smart juvenile displayed enough to suggest he retains a fair level of ability and has been given enough time to recover from that effort. Purest Time drops in grade after finishing second to a progressive type in a valuable York handicap. Papa Cocktail is noted too.
Although yet to race on an AW surface, AL KARRAR could be well handicapped off a mark of 89. An impressive debut winner at two, he finished a fine second in the Group 2 Richmond next time before failing to handle the undulations at Redcar in a Listed event. That was back in 2022 and he didn't run again until Yarmouth in September, when returning off a massively reduced mark. He wasn't beaten far but has been dropped a further 3lb and, assuming he's come on for that, really ought to be going close. Purest Time brings good recent form, having finished runner-up on three of his last four starts, and has an obvious chance back on the AW, while Irish Nectar has it in him to go well on this second run for his new yard.
