Verdict

Quaviste was still in contention when falling here last month. He could bounce back representing a trainer that has won five of the last nine renewals, while Japetus won a maiden hurdle over C&D and also merits consideration, despite his penalty. However, a large chunk of FOUR SPRINGS' penalty is negated by his conditional rider's 5lb allowance, so Ben Pauling's charge is taken to confirm the promise of his emphatic victory at Hereford and go in again.

JAPETUS showed a willing attitude when winning over C&D on his hurdles debut and is taken to defy a penalty here. He was a dual winner in the bumper sphere previously and his sole defeat under rules has worked out very well. Ben Pauling holds a strong hand here with Four Springs and Caliach Point. The latter left his debut form behind when runner up last time but his stablemate looks the first string on jockey bookings. That rival made a winning debut over hurdles and his point form suggests he should be capable of better. He can throw down the main challenge ahead of Quaviste who was still going ok when coming down here last time and likely has more to offer for his top stable.
