Bill Baxter could be in line for another tilt at the Topham Chase after a further sound round of jumping around the Grand National fences.
The popular grey finished sixth in the Becher at Aintree at the weekend under Sam Twiston-Davies, a second safe trip around the unique track after his winning run in the 2023 Topham.
A return to the latter race is now on the radar, though the Grand National itself is not ruled out were he to get his head in front and climb the handicap in good time ahead of April.
“He puts his heart and soul into everything he does, and to watch him jump around there is a joy,” said Greatrex.
“Never do you think he’s in any sort of trouble, he just jumps them brilliantly.
“The only thing Sam said when he came in was that he felt they were going too quick so he let him drift back a bit, but actually at the end he was staying on like a train and he wished he’d held his position a little bit more.
“He wished he’d been a bit closer to attack at the end, but what a horse.
“He seems to be approaching the twilight of his career, but he’s better than ever. I’m thinking we’ll have another go at the Topham in April unless he won between now and the National weights.
“If that did happen it could put him in a position where he might possibly get a run in the National, but if not we’ll go the Topham again.”
