Prix de Diane Longines
Fillies Group 1 | 4YO plus
Winner €630,000 - 12 ran
Soft
Draw Advantage: None

Not the strongest of Prix de Diane (the French equivalent of the Oaks, but run at a bit shorter), though the form looks solid enough despite the pace being on the steady side. No sectionals were returned for the winner or the fifth, but the former’s final 400m looked to be about 22.60s for a 106.7% finishing speed on ground that was predominantly “good”.
GEZORA (113 here, 105 previously) has come on with each run this year (joined current stable at the beginning of it) and trumped her Saint-Alary win with an even better one, showing smart form. She was settled in mid-field, briefly boxed up with 450m to go but getting a gap soon after and responding gradually to pressure to lead with 100m left. A daughter of Almanzor, she will probably stay 2400m.
BEDTIME STORY (112 here and previously) returned to the best of her 2yo form and should have a race or 2 in her this campaign, slowly away and held up in rear, presumably due to doubts about the trip, taking a short while to respond 450m out but there with a chance with 150m to go and keeping on. She would not be sure of getting further still.
CANKOURA (111 here, 101 previously) improved plenty on the form of her Longchamp listed win and looked like she might win when nosing ahead after 300m out, soon joined again and held only late on.
MANDANABA (109+ here and previously) ran to form but failed to see things out having been quite free then improving from mid-field to lead briefly with 300m to go.
D’ORES ET DEJA (107+ here, 97 previously) was an eyecatcher, improving on the form of her 2nd in the German 1000 Guineas (also a listed winner in that country) but unlucky not to go closer still, taking a hold in mid-field then steadied to the rear, boxed in/shuffled back with 400m to travel and finishing well when in the clear.
BETTER TOGETHER (104 here, 107 previously)
AMERICAN GAL (100 here and previously)
ROSA SALVAJE (97 here and previously)
SHES PERFECT (96 here, 111 previously) seemed not to stay, tracking the pace taking a hold and in 2nd by halfway, leading briefly with 400m to go then edging right and weakening.
SAND GAZELLE (95 here, 97 previously)
ZIA AGNESE (80 here, 101 previously)
MERRILY (0 here, ? previously)
